Cái kiệu and cái lu are oval or cylindrical terracotta containers.
In the South, especially the Mekong Delta, every household has this kind of containers placed in their verandas and outdoor kitchens to store rain water or mắm (fermented fish or vegetables).
In Mekong Delta’s lingo, cái lu refers to the gray version made from cement and cái kiệu is the tall, yellow version with beautiful dragon decorative details.
