Đà Lạt is the capital city of Lâm Đồng Province, located in Langbiang Plateau, Central Highlands.
The name Đà Lạt originated from Đạ Lạch, or Cam Ly Stream. In the language of Highlanders, Da or Dak means “water”, and Đà Lạt means “Lát people’s water”, or “Lát people’s stream” (Lát people = Cơ Ho people).
(As cited in Revue Indochine Magazine (France) April, 1944).
