The French came up with this logo when they established the administration system in Saigon in 1870. In this logo:
The two tigers showed the primitive state of the land at that time.
The Latin line “Paulatim Crescam” meant “Hang on, I will develop”.
The steam train in the middle signified a land with lots of canals.
The five-pronged crown on top indicated Saigon’s aim to trade with all five continents over seven seas.
Saigon’s logo in 1870 conveyed the potential French people saw in the still underdeveloped Saigon back then.
